Niagara Falls - On Sunday, October 25th, under beautiful blue sky’s basking in ‘just right temperatures’, four members of the Saugeen Triathlon Club mastered the Niagara Falls Half-Marathon.

A success story from the Saucony learn to run program, Dave Benninger completed his first half-marathon in 2:06:48 placing 418/620 Male overall. This from a man, who two weeks ago was convinced he would be coming in around 2:30! But, we all know with his devoted training and dedication he would be a surprise to himself.

Perhaps the most nervous of the bunch, sporting Sponge Bob Square Pants apparel prior to the race, much to the delight of many runners, Alaina Swain proved she is on her way to a long career of running posting a first half-marathon time of 2:01:44 grabbing 277/1127 Female overall.

Showing great courage and self-confidence, Kim Quesnel simply stated that she would finish her first half-marathon in under two hours. Kim proved she could be a speedy woman in a skirt crossing the finish line in 1:58:56 for 212/1127 Female overall.

Looking for a personal best, Anne McCutcheon suffered though the 21.1 kilometers in 1:37:36, for an outstanding 18/1127 Female overall.

It was a day for amazing personal accomplishments, that would have not happened without our Saugeen Triathlon Club. From the speedy track workouts, to the building of friendships that created a perfect atmosphere of group runs. We all know that this isn’t the end of our running careers, but just the beginning, there will be many more races, many more laughs, many more aches and pains, and many more finish line pictures.
